Andalusia Bar & Grill
It's been a long while since I was at the Andalusia. You may be able to tap in somewhere but I never did. Went straight in the wall. I didn't use lights here either, but I imagine that you're dealing with available power again. As I recall there was a breaker box nearby, but I didn't mess with it. Things may have changed since I was there? As I recall, there was plenty of room to work with as well.

Abilene
House sound and lights ... No if's, and's or but's ... I think 11:11 and Monkey Bus bring lights...

Armadillo Roadhouse
Yes Virginia, there is a tap. No stage. You set up on the floor basically. Load in is okay. There are two ways to load in. You can come in the back and have to go up three steps, or you can ramp to the side and go up one step. I opted for the side. Ramping up all the steps and going up the one step. Leaves you closest to the stage in my opinion. Lights ... I suspended my 10ft pole from their flown DJ speakers. I just used cans ... They had some front cans there, and I just plugged them into one of my dimmers. If you have a more elaborate light show, you'll need to bring your own support. I think it's an early load in though. I got there between 1 and 2pm... This could have changed?

The Barn
Downstairs:
If you're doing a Friday happy hour, you should get there about 3pm. Barn opens at 5pm. If it's a different night, I think they open at 8pm, so you may want to check. Easiest way to load in is through the kitchen. You can also go through the side door but you have to go up a big step. Through the kitchen you just have to go down a step. There is one tap. Looks like someone already tied in a twist plug that is always live there too. Must be Downtown's for their Friday Secret Service Happy Hours? The stage is portable, and you want to make sure the last segment moves so that you can load in around it. Once all your gear is in, then you have to secure the stage with a "C" clamp. Sometimes someone may do it for you, sometimes not. You should leave a area for the bouncers to get by the one opening in case they have to escort someone out of the place. I normally put one stack up on the far side away from this walkway. This hits the room just fine. You run FOH from the back corner by a fireplace. I'm pretty sure they have some hooks up already for running the snakes. There are lights there already, and you could hook them up to your own dimmers or leave them on constant depending on what you're bringing in. As far as hanging your own lights, you're going to have to bring your own hooks or straps to suspend your own pole, or use stands, but the stage moves a lot with an active band.
Upstairs:
Load in through the front door up the lovely steps. Bring people! You'll need the extra help at the beginning and end of the night. If you're upstairs, The Barn most likely opens at 9pm. If it's a Friday with a Happy Hour, I think you should get there at 3pm as well so that you're not loading in when The Barn opens at 5pm. If you get stuck in this situation, not only will The Barn not be happy, but you may get stuck loading in through the kitchen and up the back stairs. Can you say hernia? Best thing to do is put your power amps on the stage and have your monitor guy up there. There is a tap. There are house lights, and again I think you can bring your own light show, but you're limited to what you can do with what is there already. FOH is a booth in the front of the room. I haven't been there since they moved it, and I heard that they installed a house snake. I hope it's a splitter?
Upstairs or downstairs, the band room is upstairs connected to the downstairs kitchen.

Big Daddy's
I don't even know if they're still having bands or not or what's even up with the place but when I was there, they had dedicated outlets for the band. Oh, it's upstairs too! They help you bring your stuff in, and hopefully they'll help you take it back down. Depends on the inebriation factor. I don't think you need lights there...

Bent Elbo
I was just there recently and they put in a new tap. Course they still have the house wires coming up through the back of the tap, but at least there's more room to work with in the box ... I think anyone can bring in their own system, but house is also available ... If you can, bring your system! The house lights are six mounted on the ceiling ... You're not going to reach them, so use them ... They have their own controller for them, but it's an NSI dim pack, so maybe you could add them to your daisy chain? I never tried it ... There are no poles for mounting lights, but most people screw bicycle hooks in the back to hang a pole or use stands. If you're there on a Friday, get there early! Be loaded in and set up by 5pm ... You don't want to try to load in during their Friday Happy Hour ... It's a mob scene! The DJ uses the stage during happy hour, so you have to set up around his stuff. You also have to leave the front of the stage clear of monitors and mics ... The DJ stops at 9pm so you have an hour to finish running stage and put everything in place. You can run FOH from two different places. The house snake runs to the back of the room, you can set up where that drops, or you could take it over to the floor along the back wall. I think if you're doing Friday night, up on the ledge type thing would be better, but a Saturday it isn't too mobbed (depending on the band) and you can get away with being on the main floor. The house snake isn't a splitter, so if you have to use a splitter, you have to run your own snake. =0( Power is also run to FOH, so you have to find the other end of that and plug it into your PD. There is a band room upstairs, but not many bands use it.

The Blarney
Fun load in on a ceramic tile type floor ... (click, click, click) ... No tap, but you can tap into their box ... a 70A breaker is there if you don't have your own. Be careful! One leg in that box is straight 220! Get out your tester, and don't plug in any gear until you're sure you have the right juice coming out. If you're not too crazy about the box, there is a 20A quad on the side of the stage, but I think all the DJ gear and lights are plugged in there. Not many bands bring lights there, but I guess you can if you want. They have simple lighting there that just remains on during the sets. As far as I know, there's no special load in times there at all ... Oh, by the way, the box is under the stage towards the back room/basement. I only have 30 feet of wire coming from my PD, so I have to leave it under the stage and run extension cords to my racks. So you may want to be prepared with some extension cords if you have the same problem as me. FOH is set up basically looking at the side of the stage ... It's not the greatest, but it does get you out of the way mostly. I set up out front looking at the stage once, and it was for a TV show with a moderate crowd. If I was there on a normal night, it probably would have been too much. The band room is basically under the stage.

Brownie's by the Bay
Band room is behind the stage. When you get there, there will be a note on the door to call a pager and put in the secret code. Not long after that, someone will come to let you in. You can load in the back, but there's a step or two to get in, and then a couple steps up once you're in the door. Best bet? Front door! No steps at all. The tap is in the band room behind the stage. It's usually in pretty good shape, but I've run into problems sometimes with the lugs being stripped out ... There is a shut off box across the room if you have to tie in to the top of the box due to stripped lugs. There aren't any poles for lights. Most people use stands for the front lights and screw bicycle hooks into the thing that holds up the 3x3 TV thing. If your lights are heavy and it makes you nervous to hang from the TV stand thing, bring stands for the back too. You can find FOH by following the hooks or twisty things that are already there, but .. You go by the octopus ... I usually hang my own hooks from the DJ speakers... Then there's a booth in the back ... A lot of times the upstairs is closed, so they want you to block the stairway as best you can. If possible, be set up and ready to go by 9pm ... Lights out and LOUD DJ starts at 9pm.

House FOH speakers. You bring monitor system and FOH effects and board. Plug into XLR for your processed signal to go through the Community FOH system powered by a couple Crowns around back in the klitchen. Good luck finding parking!

Used to be Spirit's. Tap on back wall. They made me set up FOH in the side door vestibule! So, you have a sound booth? They have house lights. Low ceiling... My stacks JUST fit. You can load in the back, but it's tight ... Have to go up a step. Easiest just to ramp to the front door...

Tap in back behind DJ booth ... By the A/C units ... Look! You'll find it. Bring wheels! It's a long walk to the stage. FOH run snake along tent. Chance of getting your stuff wet if it rains.

Club Metropolis
Big boomy warehouse type place. Tap is splitter adapters. All wood stage. Bring carpet for drums. Lights will need stands all over. FOH snake I ran on the floor. Load in through ramp back by stage. They open at 9pm. Lights out and DJ at 9pm. I don't even think they're having bands anymore?

Club Rio
Used to be outdoor deck, but now it's enclosed I think. SPIDERS! Be prepared to take a few big ones home with you, or at least give them a home in your truck for a while. Long walk to load in, but shouldn't be any steps, just some relly fun hills. Tap there is a little weird. Twist plug installed that you can remove and use your own PD. FOH snake from hooks on tent. FOH by bar and waitress station.
Go to TOP

Dave & Buster's
There is a tap along the back wall. The stage is under a tent so you can tie off or hang hooks from the framing for lights. Or just use stands. Stage is a decent size and made out of concrete. Drummer will probably need a carpet. Can run FOH snake along wall that tap is on over the lights and stuff underneath the grassy huttish thing in front of the bar. They usually like you to bring a CD player or something to play music between sets cause your system will be louder then the house speakers they have out on the deck. Load in is a little tough though. You come in from the back of the stage all the way in the back of the parking garage. In fact, I haven't been there since I got my new truck, and I don't think I can even get back there? Hmmmm. Well, if you can get in the back of the garage, you have to go over steel cables that are there so cars don't fall in the river I guess. If you can't fit in the garage, you'll probaly have to unload in the front and roll all the way down the side of the pier to the back of D&B... I'm not looking forward to that!

DiRenzo's
Last I was there, there was a tap. Only a couple cans were needed, so borrow 'em if you can. You came in the back up steps. At the time I didn't have a ramp, so maybe you can ramp to these steps, I'm not sure, I don't remember what it was like. No stage. If I ever go back there, I'll update this of course...

Edge
I didn't see it personally, but there is a tap available for sound and lights. Homemade stage, plywood on milk crates. Lighting, you need stands unless you want to try or trust their truss hung way up high. Easy load in. No steps, just small ramps.

Fat Tuesday's
Sort of easy load in from the 5th street side via a ramp. Tap is basically, disconnect their fryers and use one of these breakers for your tap. You will need a lot of cable though to get back to the box. Sometimes brought lights, sometimes didn't. If you bring lights, bring stands ... Stage is where they normally have tables. It's carpeted, but real sticky due to the frozen drinks they sell there. Oh, all your stuff is gonna get sticky, at least your cables definitely will.

Finnigan's Wake
Load in is from kitchen. You definitely need a ramp. There is an elevator if you come in the front, but that's if they LET you come in the front. There is a tap. Stage isn't huge, but I guess adequate. If you have cases to make the stage "bigger" use them. Mix position is beside the stage. So for me, I basically build a little fort on the tap side of the stage and run everything from there. There are pipes out front of the stage to use to clamp lights to ... the back, the ceiling is wood beams, so you can screw in some bike hooks up there and mount whatever you want. Stage doesn't leave much room for stands, and you definitely don't want stands out front. It gets mobbed there ... That's why you have to mix from side of stage. "Square footage for people" (Honestly, that's what I was told!) a few key points about this room: Fridays, early load in due to happy hour. Be set up by 5, or at least have everything in place by 5. You have til 10pm to finish setting up the stage. Also, get there early no matter when. It's not always easy getting a clear path to the kitchen door from the outside. Often I've had to ask to have people move their car, and sometimes it's been the car painting place next door that had cars in the way of the door. Once you're in that spot, don't move til you load out later! Good luck trying to get that spot back. If you ramp to the kitchen door, most likely they'll ask if you'll leave your ramp out so they can get to the dumpsters easily. If you do leave your ramp out it will be a mess by the end of the night with beer and food all over it. Also, they want you loaded out 5 minutes after the band stops. This place wants you out of there in record time, so if you and your crew have a record to beat, this is the place to do it. They will probably start voicing their opinion that you should "hurry up" by about 2:30 ... This is normal ... every sound company I've talked to has said this about the place, so don't worry about it, just hurry up. That is if you're a smile, customer is always right kinda person.

Flanigan's YC
Easy load in through back door. A real nightclub! You can set up in peace. No people to ask if you went to school for this or anything... They open at 9pm. Tap is on the wall and labeled... They put the neutral on the end for some reason. Anyway, poles for lights are there to ... Actually it's a truss in the back. Hooks already hung for snake. (So you can find mix position). Decent place for production .. only thing they're missing is a band room.

Harbor Lights
Early load in through front door. You can get in at 2pm. Very high ceiling for snake, they have a really really big ladder that you can use. Lights, bring stands. No poles or anything but they have fronts already set up. You can snag their board, or run their XLR through your daisy chain .. NSI compatible. Tap is 3 legs in DJ booth. Shut off on box and in breaker panel directly above tap. Pseudo band room through kitchen in back hallway of all the stores in the mall. I think they usually want bands to go on at 10pm.

Hard Rock Café
Union run sound system. Union guys will help you load in band gear. (Ain't that great?!) They'll provide whatever you need. When I was there they used a Ramsa FOH and monitors were run through FOH as well I think ... They help you load out too. You have to park your truck at the bottom of the hill where the Hard Rock is on the boardwalk and load everything out there. They'll help you wheel or truck it up the hill into the club. Then they'll show you where you can park your truck. Load out is just the reverse. They'll even feed you with really good food! Gravy gig!

Hollywood Bistro
Load in through front door. Steps. No tap when I was there last time. Probably not one there still. Basically a room for a small PA. If you have a big truck and a PA with a monitor system, chances are you're not going to ever go to this room, BUT, you never know. I was there a very long time ago when I had a small system.

Jimmy's
2 Taps ... Lights & Sound? DUH! They have their own requirements of where they want the FOH speakers and mix position. You'll have to ask cause it changes from time to time. Fairly easy load in through side door. Small steps or door threshold. Easiest to pull up on sidewalk for load in, but for load out there may be N. Wildwood's finest hanging around so you'll have to go down the curb, but going down is a LOT easier than pulling it up on the way in. Poles for lights are there already.

Can you say steps? Double your price for this room! Or, I understand that the owner has a guy who will come in and set up his system for you to run it. I don't know the particulars, but if I EVER have to go back to this room, this is the way I'm going to do it. When I went there wasn't a designated tap, but I guess you could have went into the breaker box, but I was too tired from the load in to worry about it I just plugged in the wall. Brought in only one bass bin and top box. Where the band plays is no bigger than anyone's average living room. Advance this room yourself and think hard about what you want to do.

House sound & lights. Small PA, monitors from front of house. They will not allow any instruments through monitors. If your band has a keyboard player or an acoustic, you better bring an amp, or change your show to accomodate this sound company. Last I heard, they mix your show so be prepared for engineers that have no idea what's coming next.

Easy load in through back door BUT ... Stage is 3 tier. You may want to lift your amp racks onto the stage too. Tap is at stage level. I think they had some house lights? Maybe not But I think there is poles for lights and they have hooks hung for the snake. I also think when I was there that the band put two trees up for lights on either side of the stage. No band room, but there's a great hot dog vendor out front!

Load in times vary as does load in position. Either way it's a walk to the stage. You better have a lot of wheels. 2 taps. You'll need stands for lights. More than adequate stage. When I went here it was house, but if it isn't, it's a normal setup. They have a tap and plenty of room to work with. Tap on either end of the stage. All speakers must be lifted onto the stage. Band plays behind the bar. As memory serves, there was poles for lights, but not sure. I'll be there soon and update this.

Load in through back up steps. You may be able to get your ramp all the way up the steps, depends how long it is. I think if you get there at 2 you can load in the front door and that makes it a bit easier. You may want to call the room yourself on the load in aspect depending on what day of the week it is. 3 leg tap. Poles for lights. Some hooks up for snake. Mix position varies, they are flexible. Stack position as well. Some people split stack, others use one stack in center. Band room is downstairs.

Load in is through side door directly onto the stage. You'll need a ramp to pull this off. You may also be able to come in the ramp that is outside by the deck. I loaded out that way. Tap on wall, tool behind bar, ask bartender, unless you have a large hex key. I think there was poles for lights.

There are two taps. One for Sound and the other for lights. The one center stage is a 60 amp, and the one on the side of the stage is a 100 amp. Last I was there, the 100 amp had no box to tie into really, you have to use splice adapters to make connection to bare wires. Make sure the breaker downstairs is turned OFF first! There are poles up in the back, sides and front for lights. There's plenty of room on the side of the stage for racks and a monitor station. There are hooks already there to run sound & light snakes to the back. Only snag is that the last couple times I was there, they seemed to prefer you set up FOH back by the DJ booth in case of fights ... Setting up by the front door may put your stuff in harms way? I think since they have a new DJ system installed this may not be as necessary so the DJ doesn't have to go through your system anymore. Load in is front or side door. Whichever you prefer. Me, I like to ramp right up to the side door and roll right in. Since there doesn't seem to be a Happy Hour on Fridays anymore, I don't think early load in applies anymore. Just on Wednesdays with the mug deal, you may want to be loaded in by 7pm.

For the most part, this is a house system room with one of MASS's systems. I myself used to bring in my system when Animal House played there, so I think you can choose whether you want to use their system. There is a tap there, so I would untap the house system, and then tap them back in before I left. There's a decent amount of room to work with there, but only a small system is required. There are house lights there too, but if you're bringing in sound, you may as well bring some light trees. You could probably hook your own dimmer to their front cans, but as always, make sure you leave it as you found it.
